saw these in pots on sale in Shenzhen the other day. asked for its name, but the vendor would only give its fancy marketing name, 五代同堂,or five generations gathered around, as those were a selection of ones with exactly four little extensions at the bottom of the big pear-shaped thing.
the sign at the botanical gardens said they were EGGPLANT! (qiezi)
